Montana

A modification of the Parshall flume, Montana flumes conform to the standard dimensions set forth for Parshall flumes except that "the portion of the flume downstream from the end of the converging section" is removed. So long as "the flume has been set for free flow where it is not expected to operate above the submergence limit", the flume conforms to the discharge characteristics of the similarly sized Parshall flume.

As with Parshall flumes, Montana flumes are sized by throat width and conform to standardized dimensions published in the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, Water Measurement Manual.
